Road to Lombok

If you have travelled in Indonesia before you already know that planning is a bit of a challenge. Domestic flights are often delayed, boats don’t start the journey until they are full and you will finish your book while you wait for your nasi goreng. You probably learnt to be patient, smile at the small problems and most importantly to enjoy the moment.

If it is your first time experimenting the so-called island life, we are happy to inform you that you arrived to the perfect destination. Lombok has retained a more natural, uncrowded and undeveloped environment, which attract travelers who come for its relaxed pace and the opportunity to explore the island’s unspoiled natural environment. And at the same time, you will enjoy the comfort of having supermarkets, restaurants and other valuable services like bike rentals or spas close to you.

Lombok is Bali’s little sister and we hope you will enjoy discovering its treasures. Are you ready?

Sandy beaches around busy Kuta

Kuta area is famous for its largely deserted, white sand beaches. Increasing amounts of surfers from around the globe come here seeking out perfect surf and the slow and rustic feel of Lombok.

South Lombok surfing is considered some of the best in the world. You can find waves for all levels starting from beginner spots in Gerupuk and Tanjung Aan or more challenging ones like Areguling or Mawi. And if you wish to drive a little further (around 2 hours and a half), you will find Dessert Point home to the famous lefthander. On a great day, this long wave can break for up to 300 meters offering the chance to get the best barrel of your life many times over.

Don’t hesitate to contact our team who will organize your surfing sessions.

If today the ocean is flat, you can always pack your lunch box and get on a motorbike for the day. We recommend you to take Jalan Mawun and head west, this road is in good conditions and you can make as many stops as you want. Selong Belanak is a popular stop where you can find several warrungs where you can have a drink and get the famous photo of the cows taking a walk in the shore. Other interesting stops are Tampa, Pangsing or the wild Mekaki Beach. All of them are special, we promise this day trip will not disappoint you!

If you prefer you can book with us the “Beaches tour” and our team will make you a tour around all the most beautiful beaches in south Lombok.

Kuta neighbors usually go to Tanjung Aan Beach to spend the day, it is closer and it is simply stunning. Sonya and Asun from Pink Swing will prepare very tasty dishes for you and you can relax under a tree drinking a coconut and reading your book with views to the ocean. And if you stay during the afternoon, drive to Merese Hill. It is only few minutes away and the sunset from is pure magic!

It’s time for the Happy Hour! After a refreshing shower and some sun cream, it’s time for some well-deserved margaritas. Let me tell you a secret first, the best margaritas in town are in Porter… but we challenge you to find a better one!

One, two, three drinks. Dinner and the social moment when you share your adventure of the day.

Some of our favorite restaurantes are: Jiang Nan (chinese food), Nohi (pasta), Mexican in town, Umibozu (ramen), Bazaar (Marocain and mediterranean food), Elamu (greek food).

Gilis

Lombok is surrounded by a number of smaller islands locally called Gili known for its shallow coral reefs ideal for snorkeling and its diverse scuba diving locations. Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air are the most popular and you can get there by boat from Bangsal near Pemenang.

These islands are so small that you will be moving around by bike. Just imagine a ride under the palm trees!

For those who want a more authentic experience, you can drive to the Southwest coast of Lombok and jump into a fisherman boat to discover Gili Gede, Gili Asahan or the little sisters. We highly recommend to take your snorkeling equipment with you because you will enjoy spending your time there with eyes under the water (no worries if you don’t have, our gili team will provide it)  .

Decide which Gili to visit and let us know to help you arrange your day trip. We are sure you will love it!

Are you feeling like a remote tiny island or more like a party experience?

Rinjani and waterfalls

One of the most spectacular and unforgettable experiences in Lombok is climbing the Rinjani volcano. There are three days of expedition, 3,726 meters of ascent with the aim of seeing the sunrise in the second largest volcano in Indonesia. This experience is quite challenging so only suitable for the most adventurous.

If you prefer to see it from below, you should visit Tetebatu and the Rinjani green park at the foot of the volcano. You can visit several breathless waterfalls:

  • Air Terjun Sarang Walet
  • Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfalls
  • Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu Waterfalls
  • Mayang Putek Waterfall
  • Jukut / Jeruk Manis (Sweet Orange) Waterfall
  • Tiu Tedja Waterfall

Out team can organize our favorite day trip to “Tetebatu” or the waterfall tour in the Rinjani green park.

And of course, don’t forget to experiment most authentic experience with “The local women tour”; Meet Susan, Maria, Tia, Mona & Lia who will bring you closer to the local culture and make you connect with another way of living. They will show you: the local market, Kuta beaches, local school, the mosque, the sunset point, the bat caves, sade village and their homes.

We hope you can discover the magic that lies within Lombok pristine beaches, lush landscapes, and vibrant culture. Our home offers a unique blend of natural beauty, warm hospitality, and a sense of tranquility that will stay with you long after you’ve left its shores.

With its unspoiled charm and the smiles of its people, Lombok has a way of capturing your heart and leaving you yearning for more. So, until we meet again in this paradise, may your journeys be filled with wonder, and may you always find the beauty that surrounds you, wherever your travels take you.
